Three new food hubs on Vancouver Island are set to recieve two million dollars from the province to help create opportunities for small and medium-sized businesses and foster the growth of sustainable food practices. The shared-use processing facilities provide equipment and expertise to help businesses and create relationships between culinary, research and distribution networks.

The two new food hubs in the Cowichan Valley and in Victoria will focus on farmers and processors, while the Bowser food hub will be primarily concerned with seafood processing at the Deep Bay Marine Field Station operated by Vancouver Island University.
