If you’re a coffee aficionado looking for your next great cup of joe, or a restaurateur wanting to serve only the best to your customers, then you’ll want to put French Press Coffee Roasters at the top of your list. Don’t just take our word for it: their gold-medal award at the 2019 Golden Bean North America Coffee Roasters Competition speaks for itself.

With six coffee entries in the competition, the small roastery was proud to bring home a medal for each one. By doing so well against 1,300 other competition entries, roastery owner Jeremy Perkins says he knows they are on the right track.

Jeremy wasn’t always a coffee company owner. Before his foray into the coffee business, he was a professional violinist. That passion took him around the world as a performer with string and philharmonic orchestras.

The gruelling schedule of the musician life eventually took its toll on Jeremy, so in 2000 he decided it was time for a career change. His first venture into the coffee business was opening a coffee shop called Coffeevolution in Huddersfield (his hometown in England).

But Jeremy didn’t just run a coffee shop. He began roasting coffee as well, forming a business with his brother called Bean Brothers. The company became well-known across the UK for its artisan specialty coffees.

In 2017, amidst the Brexit vote, Jeremy and his Canadian wife decided it was time to leave Britain. After much research, they found themselves in Qualicum Beach, where French Press Coffee Roasters soon opened its doors.

Jeremy is very particular about providing only the highest quality coffee to his customers—both wholesale and retail. He sources the very best beans worldwide, roasts in small batches, and constantly adapts the roast times to ensure perfection.

That attention to detail has certainly been worth the effort, as is evidenced by the medal wins at the Golden Bean Competition.

You can find French Press coffee at cafes, restaurants, and markets across the Island.  Ask about their wholesale program, or stop by the cafe next time you're in the area.
