EDIBLE VANCOUVER ISLAND — SPRING 2021

Living on the West Coast of Canada, it’s easy to take for granted something as simple as knowing where your food comes from—not just fresh produce and organic meat, but everything from locally made yogurt and cheese, to sea salt, seaweed, kombucha, wine and spirits. And you don’t have to go far to find them either; these products are not hidden at the specialty stores across town, but front and centre at your local grocery store. The fact is, long known for our love of granola and mushrooms, we have always had easy access to healthy food.

In our opinion, health and wellness does not correlate directly with vegan, vegetarian or gluten-free diets. However, we do believe that with a better understanding of these options, we can each make decisions that are best for our individual bodies and our own well-being. And regardless of your personal beliefs, we can all agree that eating more fresh, local products is always a good thing.

Our intent with this Spring issue is to motivate you to plant something new in your garden, try a recipe that might be outside your normal repertoire and ignore the “labels” that we assign to our ways of eating. Ask questions, learn where your food comes from, eat “real food”, eat local, eat in moderation and live well in a way that works for you.

The SPRING 2021 issue of Edible Vancouver Island will be available in your community over the next week or so—view our Distribution Partners here.

In the meantime, you can peruse the full Digital Version of our magazine online, or Subscribe Now for home delivery and help support what we do! We’ll send our issues directly to you.
