A key member of the west coast ceramics community and a passionate teacher at heart, Gordon Hutchens, has been part of the Denman Island Pottery Studio Tour every year since its inception in 1987.

Part road trip, part art show, part treasure hunt, the 35th Annual Denman Island Pottery Studio Tour is an adventure for pottery lovers and supporters of the arts. This free, self-guided tour will get you behind the scenes where the art happens, giving you an opportunity to meet the artists and learn about their techniques and processes, and to explore beautiful Denman Island during the Victoria Day Long Weekend. Adventurers will encounter a variety of work, from one-of-a-kind wheel thrown, hand-built and sculptural work to tableware, to classic and funky décor and even some museum-quality pieces. Each potter has their own unique style, so you’re sure to find pieces to love.

This year features eight studio locations and ten potters. Well-known Denman potters, Tom Dennis and Gordon Hutchens, have been a part of the tour since its beginnings. Regulars Gilded Petunia Pottery (Jeanie Rogers), Sandra Shaffer, and Lilac Sun Pottery (Shirley Phillips) welcome you to see their new works. Delight in the creations of returning potters Ember Blair Hutchens, and Barb and John Mills of Raucous Raven Pottery and discover newcomers Seagrass Studio (Claire Kennedy), and Linda Adair.

Schedule a day or the whole weekend for this art adventure! Visit denmanislandpotterystudiotour.com to learn more about each artist and their work or to download the 2024 Tour Map and plan your visit today!
