NOW HIRING: MEDIA ADVERTISING SALES REPRESENTATIVE
Edible Vancouver Island is looking for an experienced, self-motivated, independent advertising sales representative to join our team, selling print and digital advertising opportunities in the Greater Victoria area.
Work from home and set your own hours!
This is a commission-only position, with no revenue cap. As an independent contractor, you can be flexible and schedule your own work hours and assignments. You will be paid a direct commission on advertising and partner packages sold.
Along with sales experience and a love of food, you must be connected to the food & beverage community and the region by knowledge or affiliation. You must also possess a working knowledge of advertising and sponsorships, and be able to pitch, communicate and connect with local businesses in the food, drink, sustainability, community services and lifestyle segments that will benefit from reaching the Greater Victoria audience in the magazine and online.
Our printed magazine is published 4X per year and is offered through subscription and as a digital edition. We distribute through advertisers, farmers’ markets, wineries, hotels, restaurants, and other food-related businesses. Our website at ediblevancouverisland.com presents dynamic content year-round including articles, seasonal recipes, local guides and event calendars. We reach an audience of over 800,000 local foodies and fresh thinkers, as well as tourists and visitors to the Island. We also collaborate with the Edible Vancouver publication, providing opportunities to sell advertising across both titles and into the BC Wine & Spririts Touring Guide as a fifth issue.
Our email newsletters connect locals to current food and beverage news, and we maintain social channels (@EdibleVanIsle) on Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest to provide connection for our community to what is fresh, seasonal and local.
The exceptional candidate will:
- be local, knowledgeable of the local food and drink scene as well as the related businesses (restaurants, wineries, caterers, product companies, artisanal products, hotels, event venues and sponsors, cooking schools, community markets, garden supply locations, venues).
- have proven advertising sales closing skills in person, on the phone, and through e-mail communications.
- understand the value of both print and digital media platforms, and be able to communicate that value to potential customers.
- know how to manage a sales pipeline and ongoing contracts with accounts, with the ability to up-sell and promote sponsorship opportunities and additional exposure for clients.
- have a proven track record of both print and digital ad sales success, work well under deadlines, possess a strong work ethic and excellent communication skills.
- be confident and comfortable using personal computers, software, social media and tools to organize your contacts and work flow. You will also be willing to learn and/or integrate with our technology platforms.
- be adept at initiating in-person meetings, developing pitch letters and proposals, and prospecting contacts with both small businesses and creative agencies.
