Head brewer and founder Michael Kuzyk has over 25 years experience brewing beer, and he incorporates knowledge from his doctorate in microbiology and biochemistry to meticulously create exceptional beer. Using local ingredients wherever possible, Category 12 prides itself on its connection to its producers and its community.

Michael's partnership with his wife Karen is the perfect match for the business as well, as her passion for art and marketing perfectly complements Michael's passion for beer. Together, they've created a brand that is as delicious as it is visually appealing. Enjoy a fresh pint in their tap room while admiring the funky art on the walls. They aim to provide an atmosphere where anyone can enjoy kicking back and enjoying a beer, and their bistro (appropriately named the Food Lab to keep in rhythm with the science focus!) offers a delicious menu that features local products.
