National Campaign Launches February 11

In alliance with groups across Canada, today we are launching a national grassroots campaign with farmers and farmer supporters actively participating in Canada's climate solutions.

Our message is clear: any conversation about climate change in 2020 must involve agriculture as farmers' leadership is essential for achieving Canada's climate change goals.

Are you a farmer looking for climate solutions?

Do you want to support farmers?

Agriculture is one of the first sectors to feel the multiple impacts of climate change, from crops that lay unharvested under the snow, late frosts that kill blossoms on fruit trees, extreme weather events that damage crops and soil, and droughts.

At the same time, fossil-fuel based agricultural inputs contribute to the climate crisis.

The good news is that working in coalition with groups across Canada, we've identified many ways that farmers can help reverse this trend.  In fact, agriculture is one of the most promising sectors for delivering fast and effective climate solutions.

With Farmers for Climate Solutions, we are creating a platform for farmers to come together to propose effective and realistic steps that work for their farms and their communities.

Farmers for Climate Solutions

Farmers for Climate Solutions is a collaborative effort led by the National Farmers Union, Canadian Organic Growers, FarmFolk CityFolk, Rural Routes to Climate Solutions, the Ecological Farmers Association of Ontario, Equiterre, and SeedChange.

Our ultimate goal is policy change.  We need Canadian Agricultural policies and programs that help farmers mitigate and adapt to climate change, and support the spread of low-input, low-emissions agricultural systems.

Together we can achieve far more than alone to create programs, policies, and practices that are good for agriculture, for all people, and for the planet.
