’Tis the Season

Christmas and New Year’s Eve are right around the corner now! Only six days until Christmas—better finish up that Christmas shopping! Check out our Holiday Gift Guide for some inspiration if you’re still stuck on some gift ideas.

And if you’re looking for events to attend to give you an excuse to dress up this holiday season, we’ve got you covered on that, too. We regularly update our Facebook page and website with events, including Christmas dinners and New Year’s Eve parties, so check them out and get ready for some delicious food, great music and a lot of holiday cheer.

Valley Gem

Have you been to the Glacier Valley Bistro in Courtenay yet? With friendly staff and a delicious menu, it’s the perfect place to meet up with friends over the holidays. They’ve got an ever-changing menu with amazing and unique items like Turkey Dinner Fab Fries, so you can go regularly and always try something new!

Colourful Cocktail

Did you know that every year has an official colour? For 2020, Pantone, the company that chooses the official colour, has determined that classic blue will be trending. In the spirit of that news, Pantone chose Victoria Distillers to craft the official cocktail of this colour, and the distillery met the challenge by using their blue Empress 1908 Gin.

Going Green

Western Foods and Village Food Markets, two of Sooke’s largest grocers, have banded together to ban single-use plastic bags as of January 1, 2020. There is currently a by-law on hold in the district about banning plastic bags, so individual companies are able to make their own decisions about their use.

Now Open

Check out Jack Knife Pizza if you’re out in Black Creek. Located at the Saratoga Speedway, this takeaway and delivery pizza spot has a menu full of delicious sourdough based pizzas with unique toppings. They’re open December 20-23 (and offering a 10% discount those days!) from noon to 8pm. Start your holiday indulgences here!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

From all of us at Edible Vancouver Island, we wish you a season full of good eats, tasty drinks and lots of lasting holiday memories. Thank you for supporting our incredible local food and community. We look forward to all the news and notes we will bring you in 2020. Cheers!
