Ingredients
1/2 cup water
1 teaspoon of Original Chai Blend spices
1 teaspoon of Original Chai Blend Assam tea
2 teaspoons of sugar (or other sweetener)
1/2 cup milk (or milk substitute).
Instructions
Step 1: Add water and spices to pot and bring to a boil on the stove.
Step 2: Add sugar and milk, and bring to gentle second boil while stirring occasionally.
Step 3: Turn heat to low and add tea, then steep 3–4 minutes.
Step 4: Strain through metal sieve.
Step 5: Pour into your favourite cup.
Step 6: Enjoy!
Tips
Once you are comfortable brewing traditional chai, you can experiment. Want a little extra spiciness? Add a piece of fresh ginger or a couple extra peppercorns. Like a really strong chai? Allow to steep an extra minute or two.
Substitutes: For sugar substitutes, try maple syrup, agave or honey. For milk substitutes, try unsweetened oat milk, cashew milk or coconut milk.
